WILMER 2007: MN YORK Rite Grand Session Our own Right Eminent Commander, Allen Kauppi, presided. Business and resolutions discussed. Shirley Kauppi, Order of the Beauceant, efficiently assisted both SK Allen and the York Rite hospitality rooms. Short form opening was done by Damascus #1.

EDUCATION Uniform: (no regulations until the 1856 Triennial of Grand Encampment) CHAPEAU: feather needs air – some hang chapeau upside down in a closet. Transport in a chapeau case (tail feather is from a male ostrich). Commanders and Past Commanders black silk binding with 2 black and white plumes, black plume showing at edges. Passion Cross with gold embroidery. SK below Commander, same as above, but no tassel on side lace and red Passion Cross bordered by Silver. Swords: (blade, handle, hilt, guard) PRESENT SWORDS: on the word “Swords”, raise and carry the sword to the front, cross hilt as high as the chin and six inches in front of the neck, edge to the left, point six inches farther to the front than the cross hilt, thumb extended on the back of the gripe, wrist straight, all fingers grasping the grip (angle of 30 degrees). CARRY SWORDS: on the word “swords”, bring the sword down against your right shoulder. Sword straight up and down (no throwing the right hand to the front, or the point to the rear - thumb against the hip, edge of the blade to the front) Marching: ATTENTION: stand erect, feet together at the heel, arms hang on sides. The seam of your pants should align with the little finger. Eyes front. Shoulders square. HAND SALUTE: bring hand up with a quick motion, bending the arm so that the tip of the fingers just touches the brim of the chapeau (usually salute with a sword, not hand).
